What is Christmas? Christmas is the festival mainly celebrated by the Christian community all over the world. It is considered as the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. However, the exact birth date of Lord Jesus is not known, Christmas is celebrated for 12 days in most countries. It starts from 25th December every year. Most Orthodox churches celebrate it on 7th January, Armenian Apostolic Church on 6th January and Armenians of Jerusalem and Holy Land on 19th of January. The character of Santa Claus is derived from the two old legends ?Saint Nicolas and the Father Christmas. Saint Nicolas was the bishop who gave gifts to the poor. He was considered as the patron saint of sailors and children. Father Christmas was considered to be the spirit of good cheer. Moreover, there are new traditions emerging for celebrating the Christmas in modern days. Now a day, Christmas cakes are becoming famous for the celebration purpose. The real meaning of Christmas is in giving and not taking. You can enjoy the pleasure on this auspicious fiesta.
